Privacy Policy

This policy explains what the Unshifty website at unshifty.com (the “Site”) and the Unshifty macOS application (the “Software”) collect, what we do with it, and which third parties are involved when you buy or download. We try to keep the list short. The short version: your scripts stay on your device, and we don't run analytics that follow you around.

1. What stays on your Mac

The Software is a native macOS teleprompter. Scripts you load, edit, and read with Unshifty live on your device. They are not uploaded to us. The optional “Smart Cleanup” that strips markdown and stage directions runs on-device — nothing leaves your machine for that feature.

If you choose to send a paste-ready rewrite prompt to a third-party LLM (for example, by copying it into ChatGPT or Claude.ai), that request is handled by the provider you chose under their own privacy policy, not ours. We don't see the prompt or the response.

2. What the website collects

The marketing site at unshifty.com is a static site. We do not run cross-site analytics (no Google Analytics, no Facebook Pixel, no session replay). Standard web-server access logs may be retained by our hosting provider for diagnostic and abuse-prevention purposes; these include IP addresses, user agents, and requested URLs, and are not used for advertising profiles.

If you submit your email address to a signup form on the Site, we store it solely to email you about Unshifty (release notes, the occasional update). You can unsubscribe at any time via the link in any such email. Email handling for those messages is performed by Loops; see Section 4.

3. What we collect when you buy

Purchases are processed by Lemon Squeezy, who acts as the merchant of record. When you check out, Lemon Squeezy collects the information needed to complete the sale — name, email, billing address, payment instrument, tax location. They share with us the information we need to fulfil the order and provide support: your order ID, your email, your country, and the license key issued. We don't see or store your payment card details; those stay with Lemon Squeezy and their payment processors.

We retain order and licence information for as long as needed to support your purchase, comply with tax and accounting law, and handle refund or chargeback disputes.

5. What the app phones home for

The Software checks Lemon Squeezy to validate your licence key. It may check for available app updates by requesting a small version metadata file from GitHub. Neither of those requests transmits your scripts, your filenames, or any content you've loaded into the prompter.

If you opt in to crash reporting (off by default), a crash report may include the application version, macOS version, and a stack trace. It does not include your scripts.

6. Cookies

The marketing site does not set tracking cookies. The Lemon Squeezy checkout, which runs on their domain, uses cookies it needs to process the transaction; those are governed by their cookie policy.

7. Your rights

Depending on where you live (for example, the EU/UK under GDPR, California under CCPA, or Australia under the Privacy Act 1988), you may have rights to access, correct, export, or delete the personal information we hold about you, and to object to certain processing. To exercise any of these rights, email hello@unshifty.com. We'll respond within the timeframe required by applicable law.

For data held by Lemon Squeezy (payment and billing info), contact them directly via their privacy policy — they are the controller for that data.

8. Children

Unshifty is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under that age. If you believe a child has provided personal information to us, email hello@unshifty.com and we'll delete it.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy. The current version is always at unshifty.com/privacy. Material changes will be announced on the Site or via the email address attached to your purchase or signup.
